This Entrepreneurial Story is about Swapna Namboodiri who Founded ‘Glassy Dreamz’ located in Bangalore, India.
When Started: Launched on September 8th 2012
What Motivated you to start your Business?
During my maternity leave, I got a lot of free time and started to paint like crazy. Most of the time I found myself playing with colors. After the arrival of my baby, pursuing a full time job became a hectic option and so I decided to quit my job, which now I believes is a great leap towards my passion. Within that short span of time I had made quite a few creations and luckily I could participate in my first ever exhibition. Good response from the customers and viewers made me more confident and that’s the greatest motivation that led to ‘Glassy Dreamz’.
Tell us about your Business….
Glassy Dreamz is a dream child of a software engineer turned artist. Our products includes
- wall hangings ( mostly Glass Paintings and Kerala Mural Paintings),
- Hand painted glass bowls,
- Hand painted candle holders,
- Hand painted clocks,
- Hand painted pots,
- Hand painted Glass trays,
- Hand painted Tissue holders
- Hand painted Name boards.
And another product of demand is Kerala murals painted on Sarees, Kurtis, shawls n t-shirts. And our Go Green products include very unique recycled accessories from used plastic bottles. Glassy Dreamz assures unique and vibrant hand-painted products.
What is a Day in a life of you like?
Like most of the women out there, my day also start with all the house hold works. And once all those are over, My real DAY begins. And I must say, once I get in there time just flies and cant get hold of it. And its full of colors and nothing else.
One particular skill you got right and gave you best results.
I must give that vote to ‘Multitasking’ skill. Everyday I used to think say myself ‘ OMG I must have two more hands’ And I am surviving with all I have and with multitasking.
What have been your biggest challenges in running your Business so far?
All our major decor items are on glass. That makes people think twice before buying it online as shipping involves a major role. Whenever an order comes from outside Bangalore, I can clearly make out that customers are really worried about the safe delivery of the product.
How did you overcome these challenges?
There is only one way to overcome that challenge and that would be perfect packing. We make sure to wrap all our items with bubble wrap, thermocol and hard board. And we rely on our courier people.
What have you found the most effective way to get new clients?
There is no short cut for that. If you have done 100% justice in your part of work. Appreciation and recognition will come your way. And I believe that gets you more satisfied customers.
What advice to you give to other business owners?
Always think positive and stay positive. Try to think out of box and learn to face new challenges with a smile. And that’s what life is all about.
How did you keep motivated through difficult times?
Stay positive. I always dream about a better tomorrow. Everything that happened to me had a cause. Future is in our own hands and it is our responsibility to make it good and better. And that thought keeps me motivated.
Whats your Your Marketing, Funding and Team Building Strategy
Till now there is none of these strategies being followed in Glassy Dreamz.

Bringing a smile to our customers face and heart and the appreciation from them – I consider those as my greatest achievements.

Follow your dreams and you will be successful. Not immediately but definitely..
Who inspires you?
All those around me who has a ‘Arty’ hand truly inspires me with their works.

Updation of our product range with unique add-ons, and ready to take risks when situations demands are Glassy Dreamz major business philosophies
