Preetam Salian (Founder & CEO) and Ateeque Shaikh (Founder & Director) completed their post graduation together from WLCI, UK. Preetam mastered in Marketing and Ateeque in Human Resources. That’s where the idea of HiringMonk was established and 3 years after working for different companies across sector, they finally decided to join hands & start what they have been long waiting for. Eventually, they quit their cozy jobs and like every aspiring entrepreneur kicked off in a garage.

What motivated you to start your Business?
There are people who are happy not risking their lives and working for/under someone else and there are folks who are crazy enough to break through the conventions and start their own league. We always wanted to be our own boss and make a business that’s unique and foolproof.
Tell us about your Business:
HiringMonk is India’s 1st inexpensive and guaranteed recruitment service for startups and SMEs. It has broken down the entire HR gamut into 3 fixed fee plans. The streamlined process makes hiring easier than ever. Every job description runs through a probability check and then suggested a plan accordingly. The client is then assigned with a dedicated recruiter for the next 30 days who’ll take care of all their end to end recruitment needs.
What is a Day in a life of you like?
There are a couple of days in my life that I can’t forget! Like Mark Twain said, “The 2 biggest days in your life are one, when you are born and 2nd when you know, why you were born!

One particular skill you got right and gave you best results.
People Management. “They say, great people are great with people”.
What have been your biggest challenges in running your Business so far?
Initial days for any business are no less than a challenge. To establish ourselves and make clients understand that being low-cost doesn’t mean we compromise on quality would be termed as our biggest challenge.
How did you overcome these challenges?
When you don’t have any other options, you got to set yourself on fire. We knew this was our opportunity and the only way to go ahead in life. There were times which made us feel, will this even work out? But all that was required was to keep our heads down and focus on the set goals. We worked out of an office that could hardly accommodate 3 people in it and now, here we are with a team of 8 people and a swanky new office. With 30+ clients!

LinkedIn.
What advice do you give to other business owners?
Every entrepreneur goes through his own set of ups and downs, but the only thing they need to remember is taking calculated risks. As the saying goes, “A ship is safe in the port, but that’s not what ships are built for”.
How did you keep motivated through difficult times?
This may sound funny, but the image below is one of my biggest motivator!
What are your Marketing, Funding and Team Building Strategy?
There are various marketing strategies being deployed viz email marketing, PPC campaigns, LinkedIn posts, referral programs and the most relevant word of mouth
Your Achievements?
- Self funding our business – no external funding
- Growing from a team of 2 people to 8 folks in 3 months
- Build a concept being loved by maximum startups for their hiring needs.
Whats your favorite quote?
“Nothing happens, unless you make it happen”.
Who inspires you?
There are a lot of people who teach you various things in life; similarly there have been some amazing personalities who made me who I am today. But again having said that I have also learnt that you are the sculptor of your own life and that’s my biggest inspiration, “My Will Power”.
