What motivated you to start your Business?

It was Christmas of 2014, and Bahul and Prashant were spending time with their family members in Jaipur, when around lunchtime, Bahul received a call. It was an invitation extended to his son to attend a classmate’s birthday party. Although it was good for his son to socialise, Bahul couldn’t recall this particular friend, and was a little wary to send him to the party. This had the duo talking. They realised there was no platform for parents to have direct contact with other parents on a day-to-day basis. Not only was there a lack of networking, but also a lack of peer support, with school-related interactions being either very limited or need-based. Thus, the idea for ScooTalks, a networking platform for parents sprang up.

Tell us about your Business

ScooTalks is a professional community with communication tools and applications (web, Android and iOS) connecting teachers, schools and parents. The app lets the parents communicate with other parents of their children s classmate and discuss the common issues every parent face in raising their child. Teachers can share notifications, home assignments, important announcements and performance reports of students on daily basis to parents

According to the co-founders, Prashant Gupta and Bahul Chandra, the value additions come in the form of services aggregation while helping parents learn and collaborate using blogs and posts.Parents can find Tutors, Hobby Classes, Events on ScooTalks app and web portal

Tell us what an average day in your life looks like.

The day starts with swimming and yoga , then reach office at 9 am then meeting with project managers in different office locations, later post lunch vendor meetings and developmental strategic brainstorming with key managers and end the day at office around 8, once home spend an hour with children and then dinner

One particular skill you got right and gave you best results.

Skill to choose the right team and we got our first set of users in beta and with their feedback we got amazing things to learn , add as features and there we are , a app schools are talking about these days

What have been your biggest challenges in running your Business so far? How did you overcome these challenges?

Biggest challenges were so much of offline work, hiring people aggressively, sales staff visiting schools, giving training to teachers and more of physical work and traveling.

By coming up with online audio-visual training module we successfully cut down 50% of our offline work and now our initial training post a school sign up are online and we are getting tremendous response from teachers.

What have you found the most effective way to get new clients?

Undoubtedly ScooNet, ScooNet is Getting users via signing up a school . We present the schools our app which simplify the whole process via technology. Its free for the schools, if one Level A school signs up we get 12000 users at one shot. we are looking at 5 million active users via schools by end of 2016.

What advice do you give to other business owners?

Do not sell solutions to the clients , sell them the Pain points and they ll buy you as a solutions

How did you keep motivated through difficult times?

We have an excellent team and we have hired motivators instead of managers 🙂 Our team keeps a positive environment and we are proud of them

What are your Marketing, Funding, and Team Building Strategy?

We are aggressively hiring for Pan India Expansion and our marketing strategy is very clear in terms of getting users via schools and we are focusing majority of our time on training of our marketing staff. Bootstrapped with an initial investment of 1.5 crores we are in talks with interested investors and are looking at raising 5 Million $ in coming months. We are using new age hiring We Consider each employee’s ideas as valuable, we give them the auroti as we know this fact that with Authority comes the Responsibility. We do not hire people with different designations, we do not have managers, asst managers, project heads, developers etc , We hire everyone as the CEO of the company and give them the authority to decide how they want to see there product in next 5 years.

Your Achievements?

Jaipur’s St. Xaviers School was one of the first schools that adapted ScooTalks into their vision. As of now, 19 schools all across Rajasthan use the product. With approximately 6,000 paid users on their platform, the venture plans to increase it to 2.3 lakhs in the coming months.
